Happy Holidays from all of us to all of you!
Meet the team; Nan, Serena, Corrie, Gail, Alissa, Jennifer, Jo, and Brian!
I have become a huge fan of podcasts these days as I travel between the Tasting Room & our home in Camino and the vineyard and winery in Fair Play. One of my favorites is Entreleadership and just before the Thanksgiving holiday I was blessed with hearing “Staying the Course” by master storyteller Stephen Mansfield. I highly recommend giving this a listen. This historical recount of the first Thanksgiving was filled with so many reminders of vision, planning, sacrifice, and perseverance and the importance of celebration. I hope your family has an amazing Thanksgiving celebration!
Well this past growing season was one for the record books. A big winter with lots of snow, late rains, mild summer temperatures, led to an extended growing season and a late harvest. Add to that wind events that shut off power for 10 out of 14 days in October and... well, we were still processing grapes this week. For Bumgarner the harvest was spread out. We picked our first estate whites early in September; Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, & Chenin Blanc and pressed our last, Grenache just before Thanksgiving.
It was such a blessing for us to participate with over 20 EDWA wineries in the first annual weekend of giving. We saw many loyal club members, familiar faces, and lots of new visitors in both Camino and Fair Play and raised over $500 for the Center for Violence Free Relationships. Way to go El Dorado Wineries! I am so proud of our winery association giving back to an organization that has been a resource to our community for over 30 years. Thank you!
