Prohibition had a dramatic impact on winemaking in El Dorado County, prompting many families to produce wine in small batches in their homes and leaving the region with only one active winery by 1936. Now, nearly a century after Prohibition began in the U.S., El Dorado County is home to 70 wineries and the largest, most diverse selection of varietals on the planet.
That’s what we call a cause for celebration! Keep an eye on El Dorado Winery Association’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for news and previews of this year’s event using the hashtag “#blindbarrel.” Sip, sip - hooray!
